CTS 6.5 – Calypso Test Suite

CTS test software has been specifically developed for comprehensive testing of SSDs.  CTS provides a fully scriptable test environment based on Calypso’s proprietary stimulus generator and measurement tools.  CTS is a databased end-to-end test environment with powerful automation tools.  Create repeatable, reliable baseline results.  Eliminate human error and manual processing.

CTS comes bundled with Calypso RTP and Multi-Port Test Platforms.   Full test capability exists for development, validation, production and qualification of SSDs.  Use pre-built or custom test scripts.  Support for vendor unique commands, OS commands, SCSI and ATA Pass Through commands, and more.

CTS 6.5 is the official PTS test software of record and was used to develop and validate the SNIA SSS PTS Specification.  Official PTS test results provided on SNIA Format with the CTS Report Generator.

SSD Device Test

CTS tests SSDs at the Block IO level by applying a known and repeatable stimulus directly to the Device Under Test (DUT) at the logical device level. CTS testing isolates the DUT from the OS File System, System Cache and Software Drivers higher in the software stack allowing the comparison of SSD performance on an “apples-to-apples” basis.

Fully Scriptable

CTS is a fully scriptable test environment with the ability to apply virtually any logical stimulus to the DUT. CTS is an intuitive scripting language with pre-built scripts, user accessible variable fields, easily modifiable command lines, pop up dialog boxes for syntax control, provisions for in-script OS commands, support for vendor unique commands and ATA & SCSI pass through commands. CTS scripts include automated SNIA PTS Steady State algorithms, “marks” for test script data sections, and pre-defined & editable plots.

Synthetic Stimulus

RTP / CTS generates accurate, reliable and repeatable measurements. The test sponsor can create a specific test workload by defining a synthetic stimulus of know data pattern (degree of entropy) and data access pattern (RND or SEQ R/W mix). CTS employs a 48 bit seedable random number generator for RND data, or a binary file of known entropy for Compressible data, to populate the test stimulus data buffer.

Application Specific Workloads

The Test Sponsor can specifically define and create a test stimulus workload to emulate any user application of known IO characteristics. CTS contains a variety of pre-defined access patterns typical of commonly used application workloads, including: OLTP, VOD, Virtualized Machine (VM), Boot, Mixed Client and more. CTS also provides various commonly used synthetic tests access patterns including: SPC, JEDEC, SNIA, Enterprise Composite and others.
